I am not sure if I could pick up the technique in a day. Please advise
At Affable Therapy Training Limited, we do training in small groups of 6 or 8 students. The course structure is well thought out and delivered by experienced and enthusiastic tutors. We are confident that you will be able to learn the technique in one day. Our manuals are detailed and are excellent reference sources when you leave the class to remind you of the techniques. However, if you feel that you need to repeat the course for any reason, you can do so at no extra cost subject to availability.
I am pregnant and would like to join your courses. Please advise.
First of all congratulations! You can attend some courses such as waxing, facial, manicure, pedicure, eyelash extension, threading etc., which are not intensively based on massage. For other courses which are more for full body or are heavily massage based, we would request you to either get a permission from your midwife / GP or bring a model to work on. This is because in UK the legislation is very clear only qualified medical professionals can work on a pregnant client. For another learner to work on you during the course, they need permission from your qualified medical professional e.g. midwife or GP. Also we will need to assign a qualified pregnancy massage specialist tutor to the course that you will be joining so let us know at the time of enrolment. We recommend that you wait for the first trimester to be over before deciding to do any training course.
What does a typical one day course timetable looks like?
An average one day course format is as below: 10:30am : Start with introductions and meet & greet 10:40-11:15: Subject theory. Usually delivered through powerpoint presentation and short group discussion sessions 11:45-12:45: Recap of Theory and Demonstration 12:45-13:15: Lunch Break 13:15-14:45: Group one to practice 14:45-16:00: Group two to practice 16:00-16:30: Recap, assessment and finish of the course.
What funding can I get for your courses?
We understand that times are tough and although you would like to make the investment in yourself and get training it is not always possible to find that initial lump sum towards the course. We are currently approved for the Professional and Career Development Loans for our Advance Beauty Specialist ITEC Level 3 Course. Depending upon your circumstances, you may also be able to access funding from Princes Trust and the Job Centre for your training course. We are a private college so don't attract direct government funding therefore can't offer any concession for learners who are on benefits. However in the past we have had students funding by Princes Trust and Job Centres so you may like to check with these bodies if they could fund your training. We could also facilitate easy payment plan for you. Please call or email to discuss and we will see what we can do.
My English is not very good, can I attand any of your courses?
Yes. We can facilitate this for you. We get a lot of students who don't have English as their first language and they have been able to successfully do our courses. If you are unsure please email us or call us to tell us more about your learning needs and we will see what we can do you help you achieve your learning goals.
Are your courses at the same level as NVQ or ITEC?
Our one day training courses are fully accredited and will enable you to apply for insurance. You can practice upon successful completion of them. However upon attending the one day course if you wish to upgrade it to NVQ or ITEC, we will be happy to facilitate that for you. Ask you tutor on the day of the course or send us an email within 3 months of completion of your training with us for more details. We recommend that you should get your courses upgraded to national vocational standards to further enhance your career. In London this is a requirement of most councils. Outside London / Greater London it is not a requirement and one day courses seem to be fine for practicing.

Why are the courses so much shorter than at colleges of further education?
Fast-track training with small group of student's that really want to learn, enables a more effective and speedier learning process. We cover the essential theory for safety & hygiene reasons, but most of the training is practical with full training manuals and Anatomy and Physiology provided to enhance your learning. It is recommended that at home you undertake further study by reading your manual and/or recommended text books which you would otherwise do during your college time.
